As a part of a teaching hospital, the cardiac rehabilitation center is highly
involved in advancing the state-of-the-art in medical care. To this end, our
staff is heavily involved in research on various topics in rehabilitation of
cardiac patients.
Clinical research is performed to evaluate the efficacy and improve
current treatments, to assure that both our patients and patients
worldwide benefit from the latest knowledge in cardiac rehabilitation.
Psychosocial
research into the efficacy of phychological and social support in cardiac
prevention and rehabilitation has formed a major part of the research here
at the rehabilitation center. Research in these areas has yielded information
on treating the patient as a whole, rather than simply problems with their
cardiac disease.
Basic scientific research is also performed by the staff
of the rehabilitaiton center on the process of disease and healing of the heart.
Research is carried out in conjunction with other departments and divisions
of the hospitals. This research directly benefits the patient by advancing
the state-of-the-art in prevention of cardiac events and rapid rehabilitation
of patients after having an event.
