The
Education center forms a key element in healing the mind as well as the body.
Here is where both patients and medical staff recieve state-of-the-art medical
education. Patient classes meet for both in and out-patients on an integral
part of the rehabilitation process. Classes may be presented by our nurse educators,
exercise physiologists, social workers, ocupational therapists, pharmacists,
psychologists, physical therapists, nutritionists and physicians.
Overlooking the Tisch Hospital Courtyard, with views of the East River, the
education center features a large conference room and small counseling room,
as well as offices for the education and counseling staff. Counseling is presented
in both a group and individual setting by our staff of psychologists and social
workers.
Education
is presented on a vartiety of topics, including how the heart works, how to
live a healthy lifestyle, nutrition, stress management, cardiac medications,
Tai Chi, Diabetes, etc.
Education of medical staff is a long standing tradition of NYU Medical Center,
with classes for residents, attending physicians and medical students on topics
critical to cardiac rehabilitation medicine. With the intgration of the clinic
and the education center, classes can be presented in a clinically relevant
setting.
