The
gym is the heart of the physical rehabilitation program here at the Rehabilitation
Center. Set on the south side of the 9th floor of the hospital, with all glass
walls affording a view of the southern Manhattan skyline and the East River.
Most patients comment of how light and airy the gym seems.
The equipment used in our gym is state of the art. With treadmills, rowing
machines, stationary bikes, Versa Climbers, free weights, stair climbers and
a variety of specialized rehabilitation machines. The equipment is arranged
with a fun and productive workout in mind. The machines face the glass wall,
removing the closed-in feeling of many gyms as well as allowing friends to
work out next to each other.
With
computerized, wireless central cardiac monitoring of all patients undergoing
rehabilitation, a safe and correct workout is assured. Workouts are constantly
monitored by our staff of physical therapists,
excercise physiologists, nurses and doctors. Specialized workout programs are
designed to meet the patients specific needs.
Locker rooms are available for out-patients, with showers, allowing for workouts
around work, depending on patient needs.
