Related Disorders

People with epilepsy are often subject to depression, anxiety, irritability, and other serious mental disorders. The psychological and psychiatric disturbances may be unrelated to epilepsy or may be related to the person’s emotional reactions to having epilepsy, the effect of medications, or the epilepsy itself. These mental disorders may also result from the same thing that causes the person’s epilepsy.
