GARDEN STATE GETS “SIRIUS” ABOUT CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH

NYU Child Study Center Launches New Clinical Facility for Children and Teens in Bergen County with Live Sirius Satellite Radio Broadcast

NEW YORK, May 30, 2008 – The NYU Child Study Center (CSC), the nation’s premier organization for assessment, treatment and research in the field of child and teen mental health, announced today the opening of new satellite offices in Hackensack, New Jersey. This state-of-the-art facility offers families of New Jersey a comprehensive range of specialized diagnostic and treatment services for children and teens with psychiatric, developmental and learning disorders.

The occasion was marked with a live broadcast of About Our Kids, the Center’s weekly Sirius Satellite Radio program dedicated to providing listeners with essential information and advice about child, teen and family mental health. The program, hosted by three NYU CSC expert clinicians, airs every Friday morning from 8-10 a.m. on Sirius Channel 114, part of the Doctor Radio network. Today’s live broadcast featured special guests including Hackensack Mayor Jorge E. Meneses and NYU CSC Founder and Director Harold S. Koplewicz, M.D. Mayor Meneses welcomed the NYU CSC with keys to the city of Hackensack.

“There are 15 million children in the United States with a psychiatric or learning disorder and fewer than ten child and adolescent psychiatrists for every 10,000 children living in New Jersey,“ said Harold S. Koplewicz M.D. “We have been providing the highest quality care at our sites in Manhattan and Long Island for over a decade and we are thrilled to be able to extend our world-class diagnosis and treatment services to the families in the Garden State.”
