Departmental Compliance Liaisons
Approved by Board of Trustees on May 25, 2004
To enhance communication of and adherence to applicable legal and institutional requirements, selected departments within the institution will designate a representative to serve as Departmental Compliance Liaison to the Office of Audit and Compliance. These appointments will be made by the Department Director and approved by the Management Compliance Steering Committee.
The Departmental Compliance Liaison will serve as the focal point for compliance-related communications within that department and will work closely with the both the Office of Audit and Compliance and other members of his or her respective department to achieve consistent implementation of the Corporate Compliance Plan. It is recommended that individuals identified for this responsibility have good verbal and written communications and be familiar with the day-to-day operations of their respective departments. Each year the Department Director will reconfirm the appointment of both the liaison and alternate liaison.
The Office of Audit and Compliance will host periodic meetings with the Departmental Liaisons to share pertinent information and gather appropriate feedback. In addition, the directors of compliance will work as needed with liaisons to further the implementation of the Compliance Plan.
The Departmental Compliance Liaison will assume the following responsibilities:

- Raise and maintain compliance awareness
- Assist in drafting departmental billing guidelines
- Address compliance issues and bring them to the attention of the Compliance Officer
