What’s New at DLAR

Website Development - Have you checked out the updated DLAR website yet? The following forms have now been revised and are available on the website for download - The Protocol Renewal form, the Controlled Substance Use-Log form, Husbandry Services, Veterinary Services and Drug Request forms, MAP Testing form.

Rates for 2005: New per diem rates and veterinary service charges for the fiscal year '05 were approved. These rates will become effective September 1, 2004. To view our rates, please click here.

IACUC Announcements

Investigators and Research Personnel Please Note- Training is important for the appropriate care and use of laboratory animals and is mandated by the Animal Welfare Act (9 CFR Chapter 1, Subchapter A, Subpart C, Section 2.32) and therefore, it is a required of you to participate in the animal facilities training program in order to receive access to the animal facilities of the NYU School of Medicine. Anyone entering these facilities without prior authorization from DLAR is in non-compliance of the principal investigator’s protocol and will be reported to the IACUC office and thus further action will be taken. Please inquire in MSB 182 for further information and scheduling of training.

IACUC Policy on Maintaining Mouse Cage Populations - The IACUC and DLAR have recently adopted the national standards and recommendations contained within the “Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals” on mouse housing.
