The mice are maintained in a conventional facility using
a static caging system. Rodents are permitted entry into the
facility after an 8 week quarantine period. The health status
of all the colonies are monitored monthly by exposing sentinel
cages containing Tac: (SW)fBR female mice to solied bedding.
Each holding room contains at least 2 sentinel cages (1 sentinel
per 200 resident cages). One mouse per sentinel cage is evaluated
during each testing cycles as indicated below:
There are three separate testing cycles: quarterly; semiannual;
and annual. The agents screened at each interval are as follows:
