Emergency Radiology: A Systematic Approach
to Imaging in the Emergency Department

Course Description:


This eight-hour course presents a systematic approach to the use and interpretation of diagnostic imaging studies in the emergency department. The concentration is on plain film radiography. Other imaging modalities are discussed where appropriate. A syllabus booklet is included with the course fee.

Intended Audience:


This course is intended for physicians, nurses, and advanced practice professionals currently working in the field of emergency medicine or family practice.

Educational Objectives:

  • Discuss appropriate indications for diagnostic imaging studies in the emergency department
  • Know the standard and supplementary radiographic views for each anatomical region
  • Identify normal radiographic landmarks
  • Recognize both subtle and obvious radiographic abnormalities
  • Understand common errors in radiograph interpretation
  • Discuss adjunctive diagnostic imaging studies

Continuing Medical Education:


This course is approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians for 8 hours of continuing medical education credit.
