Chemical Inventory

Every year the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requires the Medical Center to report all Hazardous Substances used and stored in the facility during the previous year. Environmental Services requests each laboratory to submit an inventory annually and to post it near the exit door of the lab. If you have completed an inventory in the past, please call Environmental Services at x35159 to request a copy of your past inventory. For labs completing an inventory for the first time, follow the instructions below. Please submit inventory by December 1, 2003.

  1. Fill out the Check Off List for Reportable Products for each lab under your supervision. For each product verify that the quantity listed is the maximum amount on hand at any time during the year. In addition, verify that the location listed in the Bldg/Room column is the location where the product is stored.
  2. If there are hazardous products in your laboratory that are not on the Check Off List for Reportable Products, please list them on the Chemical Inventory List for 2002. Please check the List of Items That Do Not Need to be Reported before adding items to your inventory.
  3. For any products added to your inventory that are not pure chemicals, please submit an MSDS (material safety data sheet) or fill out a Product Information Form
  4. Post the completed inventory near the exit door to the laboratory. Send a copy to:
