Animal Research

NYU School of Medicine has a comprehensive program to protect personnel who work with animals from health and safety hazards.  The program is summarized in the Occupational Health Policy for Personnel Who Work With Laboratory Animals.

Any Principal Investigator who wants to use hazardous materials in animals must incorporate safety procedures into Part VII of the IACUC Research Protocol Form.  For examples of appropriate wording for this form, click on the topics below.

For assistance in developing safety procedures, please contact the Environmental Services' Associate Director assigned to the IACUC Jean Goldberg.
