The Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery is the largest program
of its kind in the United States. Alongside its experts in plastic surgery,
the Institute's multidisciplinary team includes specialists in neurosurgery,
ophthalmology, otolaryngology, orthodontics, prosthodontics, speech pathology,
genetics, psychology, and nursing. Its surgeons benefit from the experience
of a large volume of cases - more than 6,000 inpatient and outpatient operations
every year.
In the Institute's Variety Center for Craniofacial Rehabilitation, pediatric
and adult patients receive comprehensive care for all types of facial deformities,
whether they result from birth defects, trauma, or cancer treatment.
The Institute's staff also is internationally known for its contributions
in the area of cosmetic surgery of the face.
The staff also includes specialists in breast reconstruction, augmentation,
and reduction; body contouring and liposuction; and upper extremity or
hand surgery.
Other specialized programs exist for the treatment of patients with facial
hemangiomas, facial paralysis, eyelid or orbital problems, and large defects
requiring microsurgical reconstruction.
