NYU Medical Center provides
high-quality healthcare services at competitive prices.
Patients who do not reside in the United States and who do not participate
in a medical insurance plan accepted by NYU Medical Center must pay a pre-admission
deposit.
The deposit is an estimate of hospital and professional charges, based on
the patient's diagnosis and proposed plan of treatment. Unless alternative
arrangements have been made, all charges must be paid in full at the time
of discharge.
Hospital and Physician Fees
Patients who are treated
at NYU Medical Center will incur expenses for both hospital services and
physician/professional services.
Hospital expenses would include inpatient and outpatient services such as:
• Room and board
• Nursing care
• Pharmacy
• Surgical and medical equipment
• Technical components of laboratory and/or radiology services
• Any other hospital-provided services
Physician/professional expenses would include fees from the physicians who
provide care. (Because physicians are not employed by NYU Medical Center,
they bill separately for their services.) Those who bill separately include:
• Attending physicians
• Surgeons
• Anesthesiologists
• Pathologists
• Radiologists
• Any other physicians who assist or consult at the request of the attending
physician
NYU Medical Center accepts the following forms of payment:
• Wire transfers
• Travelers checks
• Cash
• Credit cards - Visa, MasterCard, American Express
Wire transfers can be arranged through the International Services Program.
Patients who are government-sponsored or who participate in an insurance
program accepted by NYU Medical Center are not required to pay in advance.
Instead, a letter of authorization from an embassy or the insurance company
is required prior to being admitted or receiving services.
