Applied Research Fellowship in Medical Informatics

Mark Triola, Fellowship Director, Medical Informatics

Applied Research Fellowship in Medical Informatics offers instruction and research opportunities leading to a certificate. The program currently has a single fellowship position, and is not supported by a training grant.

The program is two years in length and is structured as an applied research fellowship. The aim of the fellowship is to prepare fellows for careers as investigators and educators in health care information technology and its applications.

Fellows in this training program will:

  • achieve competency in the core aspects of medical informatics
  • achieve competency as academic investigators
  • develop new skills and expertise in health care information technology and programming,
  • conduct research projects and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.

The program emphasizes cutting-edge interdisciplinary research, curriculum development, and modeled professional training.

The design of the NYU School of Medicine program reflects our belief that the newness of the field of medical informatics, the need for trained informatics professionals, and the broad opportunities available at the NYU School of Medicine make it a unique and rewarding training opportunity.
