Please join us for the Medicine-Surgery Conference for September 2008

The topic for September's conference will be "Hyperparathyroidism."

Speakers:

• Dr. Veronica Catanese, Associate Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency Training Program
  
  Dr. Catanese is Chair of the NIH Special Study Section on Bioengineering and Physiology, a member of the Institute of Medicine's Clinical Research Roundtable, and a co-leader of the NIH director's Clinical Research Roadmap Advisory Group's Subcommittee on Training. She is also Associate Editor of the Journal of Investigative Medicine.
  
  
• Dr. Kepal Patel, Assistant Professor of Surgery and Biochemistry
  
  Dr. Patel has particular expertise in the multidisciplinary treatment of thyroid and parathyroid tumors. His laboratory research has focused on studying the molecular pathogenesis of thyroid carcinoma, specifically trying to identify molecular factors which can help predict thyroid tumor progression and potentially serve as therapeutic targets.
