David Ost, MD, has implemented an Interventional Pulmonology Program at NYU, which includes both flexible and rigid bronchoscopy for diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases.
Dr. Ost has worked with airway balloon dilation and stenting, electrocautery, argon plasma coagulation, Nd-YAG laser and Photodynamic therapy (PDT). The program has done work with CT fluoroscopic guidance, endobronchial ultrasound and the newer electromagnetic registration and guidance systems for bronchoscopy (SuperDimension).
For patients with advanced emphysema, we will continue to work on endobronchial lung volume reduction using both the Spiration one-way valve system and the Broncus airway bypass system. In addition, we have also combined these engineering solutions for health care problems with newer molecular techniques for rapid diagnosis of pulmonary infections.
The program will continue to partner with industry and government to develop new technologies to advance the field of bronchoscopy and pulmonary medicine. For more information, please call 212-263-7951.
