Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children's Center
for Cancer and Blood Disorders

Nurse Coordinator: Jessica Tahaney, MA, RN, CPON

  • The Hassenfeld’s nursing team is a group of highly-experienced, registered nurses who are trained in the administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy according to the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses practice standards.
  • In addition to providing excellent medical care, our nurses, several of which are Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurses (CPON), are advocates and teachers, who are by the family’s side throughout the duration of treatment. They can help you better understand your diagnosis and treatment as well as help you communicate your needs and concerns to the appropriate interdisciplinary team members.
  • The nurses are part of an interdisciplinary team that is comprised of physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, a psychologist, clinical research associates, a nutritionist, child-life therapists and pastoral care. The nurses go above and beyond to help the patients cope with treatment.
