14 West - Transplant Unit

  • We are a 31-bed Transplant/Surgical Unit comprising 3 levels of care
    • Telemetry Acute Beds
    • Step Down Unit Beds
    • Intensive Care Unit Beds
  • Primary patient population consists of adults pre and post-operative, including but not limited to:
    • Cadaveric Liver Transplant
    • Living Donor Liver Transplant
    • Split Liver Transplant
    • Cadaveric Kidney Transplant
    • Living Donor Kidney Transplant
    • Kidney Pancreas Transplant
    • Pancreas Transplant
  • Critically ill patients requiring one or more of the following:
    • Post Anesthesia Care after Transplant
    • Plasmapheresis
    • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
    • Pulmonary Artery and Arterial Pressure Monitoring
    • Mechanical Ventilation
    • Inotropic Support
  • Participate in nursing committees and in the development of Nursing Practice Standards to maximize quality patient care and safety utilizing research and evidenced based practice.
  • Supports continuing education and encourage unit specialty certifications such as Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN) and Critical Care Certification (CCRN).
  • Networking and communication among members of the interdisciplinary team with a focus and commitment to enhancing patient care and safety.
  • Fostering awareness for ethical considerations in transplantation including procurement and donation.
  • Opportunities for Student Nurse Externs available through a comprehensive program designed to enhance knowledge of the nursing process while stimulating critical thinking.
