How to make an appointment
The staff at the NYU Pain Management Center is available for consultations,
second opinions, treatment management and follow-ups. As a major pain
center of excellence, NYU Pain Management Center staff work in partnership
with the referring physician, to develop a plan that is best suited
for you.
The
NYU Pain Management Center plays a proactive role in helping patients
receive quality care.
We consider it a great priviledge that you have entrusted us with your
care. NYU Pain Management Center faculty and staff members will do all
we can to assure you that the right choice was made with the NYU Pain
Management Center. The Pain Center makes every effort to see patients
as quickly as possible.
Patient care is provided through a multidisciplinary program that works
to provide the best care possible by drawing together specialists from
many different fields to arrive at a diagnosis and develop a treatment
plan for you.
Your physician should refer you to us. If you need help in obtaining
a referral to a primary care physician, we would be glad to assist you.
To make an appointment simply call (212)201-1004 between 9 AM and 5:30
PM EST, Monday through Friday except holidays.
Once you have made an appointment
If you have seen any other physicians for your pain problem, and have
had any diagnostic tests, it is very important that you forward these
documents to our office or bring them to your initial consultation.
This will help us in evaluating your problem. For your convenience,
these can be faxed to our office. Our fax number is (212)685-5365.
What to expect at your first visit
It is very important that we learn as much about you as we can since
the pain treatment is done best in the context of understanding you
well. Please allow a minimum of two hours for your first visit. You
will fill out a brief questionnaire about your pain. Because of the
complexity of chronic pain which often may have emotional sequelae,
you may have a comprehensive medical evaluation conducted by an anesthesiologist
specially trained in pain management as well as an interview regarding
your pain by our pain psychologist.
This service provides you with the convenience of consulting the doctors
at the NYU Pain Management Center through electronic mail.
