Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention Center Receives Accreditation
In June of 2006, NYU Medical Center’s Joan and Joel Smilow Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention Center was awarded an accreditation as a program in the cardiac division of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The AACVPR is one of the premiere national organizations that is dedicated to reducing morbidity, mortality, and disability from cardiovascular and pulmonary disease.
Accredited Cardiac Rehabilitation programs of the AACVPR are limited to those organizations that demonstrate a commitment to education, prevention, rehabilitation, research, and aggressive disease management. The Smilow Cardiac Rehabilitation unit is one of only five facilities in NYC that holds this distinction.
