Psychology Department Receives Five-Year NIH Grant
The Psychology Department of the Rusk Institute has received a 5-year NIH grant titled “Individual Problem Solving Treatment in Adults with Acquired Brain Damage” that will begin in October 2006. The $1.975 million study involves innovative treatments for problem solving difficulties in outpatients who have suffered stroke, or traumatic brain injury.
This new study builds on a previously successful NIH grant demonstrating improvement in outpatients who have suffered traumatic brain injury with mild cognitive impairments by focusing on individuals with more severe cognitive impairments who would be more responsive to individual vs. group treatments.
The research team includes-Donna Langenbahn, Joseph Rath, Roselynn Sherr and Leonard Diller.
