NYU's Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine is Featured on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy NEW YORK, March 16, 2005 -- In the episode, "From Minor Disaster to Sportscaster," on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy yesterday evening, physical therapy was deemed to be an integral part of the transformation of "Straight Guy" Kord Stanley. Kate Parkin, Director of Physical and Occupational Therapy at Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, taught Mr. Stanley various exercises that would relieve muscle pain and increase flexibility. Mr. Stanley had suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon but had not sought therapy to correct his ailment. The experts at the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy felt that treating his injury was critical to Mr. Stanley's well-being and would prevent future health concerns. Off camera, Dr. Howard Thistle, Associate Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at New York University School of Medicine examined Mr. Stanley and prescribed physical therapy for him.
