Pediatric Outpatient Services
The Pediatric Rehabilitation Service provides outpatient care to children and young adults, newborn through twenty-one years. The relationship between the Rusk Institute and other clinical and research units within NYU Medical Center allows the Pediatric Service to care for children with complex diagnoses that might not otherwise be managed as effectively in a free-standing facility. The goal of the Service is to meet the medical needs of the patients and the emotional needs of both patients and their families to help the children become happy, healthy and productive adults.
Treatment is offered for a variety of acquired and congenital problems. In addition, the Pediatric Rehabilitation Service offers several specialized programs tailored specifically to the needs of children. They include:
- Adaptive Equipment
- Educational Services
- Pediatric Occupational Therapy Unit
- Pediatric Psychology Services
- Pediatric Physical Therapy Program
- Pool Program
- Serial Casting/Splinting
- Spasticity Evaluation and Management
- Speech-Language Pathology Program
- Therapeutic Electrical Stimulation (TES) Program
