The fellowship is a one year commitment and is structured around the Variety Center for Craniofacial Rehabilitation, a multidisciplinary group designed for the study and treatment of severe facial malformations. Only 1 fellow is selected. The fellow receives in-depth training in the full spectrum of craniofacial surgery. Working with a full-time orthodontist, the fellow is intimately involved in the preoperative analysis and surgical planning as well as splint construction for orthognathic surgery. A broad range of research activities exist and the fellow is required to participate. Both private and clinic cases are treated.
The fellow presents all patients at the weekly craniofacial conference and scrubs on the craniofacial cases in the O.R. Ample time is allocated to assist the residents on surgical cases at Bellevue Hospital under the supervision of an attending.
